The basis of all imagery is light. B&W photography allows for the exploration of light without the distractions of color. Throughout college I was required to shoot in B&W as an essential part of developing a sense for photography. I still enjoy shooting B&W for myself because it pushes me to look beyond my natural way of seeing: color.
